Outreach campaign for NASA’s Curiosity rover wins Best Digital Campaign for the Nonprofit Sector in the 2013 Digital PR Awards

AUSTIN, Texas – October 23, 2013 Phillips & Company, a global communications firm that helps clients create, defend and sustain leadership positions through public relations and market development, today announced they have been awarded Best Digital Campaign for the Nonprofit Sector by PR Daily.

Phillips & Company developed the “Get Curious” campaign for Explore Mars, a non-profit organization established to advance the goal of sending humans to Mars within the next two decades. Get Curious effectively used online marketing, an interactive website, social media, events and guerilla marketing to raise awareness for the landing of NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory rover, Curiosity. The campaign and the website (GetCurious.com) were launched simultaneously in July 2012 prior to the August landing. Not only did the campaign generate online buzz, but it also reached more than 1 million people globally and garnered positive coverage across the media.

Ragan’s PR Daily is known as the No. 1 news website in the PR industry and has more than 800,000 readers monthly. The judges recognized the Get Curious campaign for being bold, innovative and successful, while harnessing the power of digital communications to its fullest extent.
